Coffee bean supplier for new cafes and coffee shops

Thinking of opening a coffee shop or a beach front cafe on the sunshine coast and researching what coffee bean and coffee machine to use? The most important variables to a coffee shop is the raw material (coffee beans), coffee equipment, barista and believe it or not it is location. On the sunshine coast coffee consumption is growing and cafes are increasingly popping up everywhere. What makes me 'tick' and drives me is continually discovering what makes a coffee shop successful and evermore popular? This has intrigued me from my coffee loving university days in Brisbane and wondering why one set of urban retail shops would be always busy and another just down the street would be 'abandoned'.
In short the secret would be a combination of location, reputation and buzz. In the university urban suburb i regularly attended there were many Brisbane coffee shops and funky cafes. The location of the popular ones was always located in a high foot traffic area. The cafes were positioned so the  public had to always walk past, physically get out of their cars and walk past them to get to another 'attraction'. Once you have high foot traffic then you are half way there to running a successful cafe.

Secondly the reputation of your Sunshine coast cafe/coffee shop is very important. This is where the coffee beans you use, barista's or even milk gets blamed or accolades. People talk and are more than happy to recommend or deter their friends from a good cup of coffee, for good or for worse this is simply human nature.

Thirdly and lastly a successful cafe will always have a type of 'buzz' with it. Meaning the cafe has a point of difference compared to the thousand other coffee shops in Brisbane and the sunshine coast. With this point of difference the coffee shop enjoys cult status following with the local community and is always busy. It can be argued what actually creates this 'buzz' effect, but in my opinion it is simply an offering to the customer a point of difference from the boring old 'coffee shop'. This can be an exclusive quality blend of coffee beans, funky new themed decor, new menu, exclusive drinks or a combination of all.
In concluding, to run your own successful coffee shop business in the sunshine coast, you only have to look at the success and mistakes made south in Brisbane city. Consumers are smart and in todays technological world are well informed. No one likes the same boring status quo day in day out. Chances are if there is a new kid on the block offering a new point of difference and quality product then you will have to compete and change or stay ignorant and surrender your market share as your existing clientele moves away.
